FAQ
Practical billing questions.
What can I use without a plan?
Without a plan, you can Read, send, archive, and manage email like a regular email client, Manually add items to Flowboard, Manually set due dates, Use Pulse from the sidebar. It is not a separate free plan; it is the regular email-client surface. Paid plans add Avalon AI, automated triage, cleanup, rules, meeting briefs, and hosted or bring-your-own model access.
Why does BYO still cost money?
BYO removes Avalon-hosted model spend, but it does not make the rest of the product free to run. Avalon still hosts the app, stores and syncs mailbox data, runs background jobs, maintains infrastructure, and keeps the workflow layer reliable. The lower BYO price reflects that you are covering the model bill yourself.
How does Pro member voting work?
Every month, Pro members help choose the open-source repository, maintainer, or cause Avalon supports. Pro members also vote on one small product or workflow experiment for the team to try next.
What does fair-use mean for Indie?
Indie is for one person using Avalon throughout a normal workday across up to 3 mailboxes—for example, ongoing triage, drafting, summaries, meeting briefs, and routine automations. There is no token counter or top-up pack to manage.
Who should choose Pro?
Choose Pro for heavier, sustained hosted-AI use across more mailboxes. It adds Avalon’s highest self-serve capacity and priority support; early access, open-source support, voting, and workflow notes are secondary member extras.
Are these plans per mailbox?
BYO is a one-mailbox plan. Indie includes up to 3 total mailboxes for one person, with subscription usage shared across them. Pro adds higher multi-mailbox capacity for power users. Team-wide rollout, deployment control, or broader commercial terms are part of enterprise packaging.
